WHO IS RONALD MAURICE?
Ronald Maurice, a native of St. Louis, has distinguished himself as a versatile composer, accomplished music director, and dedicated educator. As a soloist on the horn, he has performed extensively, including prestigious venues such as the Schönbrunn Palace with the Vienna Horn Society. His career spans orchestral, operatic, and musical theater realms in St. Louis, Vienna, and Italy, where he has excelled as a conductor and music director.
Ronald's expertise extends to education and composition. He served as music director for The American Opera Project’s Composers & The Voice training program from 2021 to 2023. As a freelance composer, he has contributed to Green United Music’s film catalog in Paris and released multiple albums, including an EP.
Recently, Ronald Maurice premiered his opera "Unbroken," created with librettist J Mae, as part of Opera Theatre of St. Louis' New Works Collective in March 2024. His compositions have been featured in diverse settings, from André Hueston Mack's book tour to Gaby Baars' choreography for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal.
Beyond his artistic achievements, Ronald is deeply committed to music education, having built and led programs at K-12 private schools and universities. Currently serving as Director of Music at Xavier High School, he oversees all facets of the music program and also teaches as an adjunct professor at NYU. Ronald's leadership has been instrumental in guiding students to success in competitive music programs, nurturing their talents, and inspiring future generations in the field of music education.

Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (OTSL) has announced its slate of world premieres for the 2024 New Works Collective. Now in its second year, the New Works Collective is a disruptor in the American opera industry by soliciting nation-wide applications from aspiring creatives and submitting all entries to a community panel for adjudication. A group of ten St. Louis citizens independently selected the six artists who will create new operas in 2024.
